“I know I was kissed by luck when I bought Podere Le Ripi: the soil, the geology, the microclimate, the unpolluted environment are the best I could find for my place. These are the best conditions to make very important wines.

Almost every vineyard I planted has a potent character: this means that I can produce fantastic grapes. Why should I transform a fantastic raw material in a simple wine? Don’t you agree I would disrespect this precious gift of nature?

This is why I decided to make my wines with the highest attention, with the needed investments, with the best techniques and technology, in the best possible way.

And now that I begun to let people taste my wines you can not imagine how many say to me: “I can’t believe this wine is done by so young vines.” which confirms that my soil is really very peculiar and I was right to treat my grapes in a so important way.” – Francesco Illy
