More about this Producer
Giacomo Peirano arrived in San Francisco in 1879 from Genoa, Italy. In 1881, he began farming in Lodi, and year by year he gained a place for himself pioneering vineyard and orchard development. Planted in the early 1800’s, Peirano Estate was one of the first vineyards in Lodi. Located in the heart of the Lodi Appellation, the 300 acre estate consists of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and perhaps the largest single block of old, head-trained, natural rooted Zinfandel left in California.
In 1992, Peirano Estate Vineyards began bottling and selling wine using their estate grown grapes. Until this point, Lance Randolph, fourth generation Peirano, produced wine simply for his enjoyment and that of his close family and friends. The rest of the grapes were sold to winemakers across the country. It was well-known amongst Lance’s family and friends that he had a knack for making well-balanced, elegant wines but was not interested in selling it to the masses. At their insistence, Lance began bottling and selling his wine to wine enthusiasts throughout the United States.
The Peirano family has been in Lodi since the late 1800’s, and bring incredible quality and class with exceptional value.
