More about this Producer
As you drive through the graceful gateway leading to the manor house of Kloovenburg, you sense the atmosphere of pride and purpose. This is a place where the age-old virtues of the soil and climate are harnessed to the vision of the future held by owner and winemaker, Pieter du Toit. Just how long he had cherished this future dream is aptly demonstrated by the tale of his making a secret bid to buy the neighboring farm when he was only eight years old. The farm was bought, his domain extended, and his vision of a proud range of wines is now reality. Pieter du Toit has selected the best red grape cultivars for the farm’s exclusive range of red wines, including Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes from low-yield vines with concentrated fruit flavors go into the crisp, barrel-fermented Chardonnay which is also part of the selection on offer.
Among South Africa’s wonderful array of natural resources, the Western Cape plays host to some of the world’s finest slopes for wine growing. Located just an hour’s drive north-east of Cape Town, Kloovenburg has established a fine reputation for hospitality, innovation, olives and of course high quality wines.
