The Moris Family, dedicated to organic viticulture in the Maremma region of Tuscany, has emerged as one of Southern Tuscany’s permier producers – offering wines which have remained true to their origin while at the same time pioneering the exploration of non-Tuscan varietals.
Two hundred years ago the Moris family left Spain to come to the Tuscan Maremma, a divine land renowned for its wine, with a fresh and geniune love for the bountiful land. Over the years, the family has stayed true to their roots, dedicated to offering excellent value at every price point. While the surface area of the farm is 476 hectares and is divided into two properties, there are 70 actual hectares under vine. The land’s altitue varies from 80 to 100 metres above sea level. The vines are facing south-west. The Poggio la Mozza Vineyards are located in the DOC area of “Morellino di Scansano.” The Moris Family replanted them for the first time in 1995 and replanting still continues to this day. The whole of the Poggio la Mozza area is hilly, and at an altitude of about 100 metres aboce sea level. Since 2011 both companies are part of the DOC Maremma Toscana.
